1. What we collect
Volt connects to your Tesla account through Tesla's official OAuth flow. We never see your Tesla password. We collect the telemetry and metadata your Tesla emits via Fleet Telemetry, the minimum account information needed to deliver the service (email address, app preferences, subscription state), and the messages you send to the Volt AI assistant when you use it.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, location history outside of your driving sessions, or anything from other apps on your phone.
2. How your data is stored
Vehicle telemetry is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use managed Postgres on European infrastructure. Backups are encrypted and retained per the schedule disclosed in our DPA.
3. AI assistant and third-party AI processing
Volt includes an AI assistant and AI-generated insights, such as dashboard briefings. To answer your requests, we send your message and relevant information about your own vehicle to a third-party AI provider, Google (Gemini API), which processes it to generate a response.
The information sent to the AI provider may include: your message and recent conversation; your vehicle's status (for example battery level and range, charging state, cabin temperature, tire pressures, lock, climate and Sentry status, model and name); location and navigation details relevant to your request (an approximate location, saved places you have added such as Home or Work, and an active navigation destination); and your driving and charging history and related analytics (such as recent trips and charging sessions, efficiency, battery-health metrics, and charging costs).
We do not send your vehicle's VIN, your account password, or payment information to the AI provider. AI responses may be inaccurate and should not be relied upon for safety-critical decisions.
Google's processing is governed by the Google Gemini API terms and Google's Privacy Policy. We use the paid Google Gemini API. Under Google's Gemini API terms for paid services, Google does not use this data to train its models.
The AI feature is a core part of Volt. If you do not agree to this processing, please do not use the app.
4. What we never do
We never sell your data. We never share your data with insurers or advertisers, and we never use it for advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party marketing. Aside from the service providers listed below (including the AI provider described in Section 3), we do not share your data with third parties.
5. Sharing with subprocessors
We use a small set of vendors to run the service, listed by category:
- AI processing: Google (Gemini API)
- Hosting + edge: Vercel
- Vehicle data: Tesla Fleet API (accessed with your OAuth authorization)
- Database: managed Postgres provider (Supabase, EU)
- Sign-in identity: Apple, Google
- Subscription management: RevenueCat
- Email delivery: Resend
- Crash diagnostics: Sentry (optional, opt-out in settings)
We may add subprocessors as we grow; we will update this page before any change takes effect.
6. Your rights
You can request a full export of your data, or delete it entirely, from the app's Account Settings. Deletion is irreversible and removes your data from our active databases within 30 days; encrypted backups age out per our retention policy.
EU and UK residents have rights under GDPR; Turkish residents under KVKK; California residents under CCPA. To exercise any of these, email privacy@haveyoumetvolt.com.
